An Augusta County woman has died in an accident in her front yard.

It happened on Route 250 at about 6:30 p.m. near Fishersville.

State police say a man driving a pick-up truck swerved off the road and hit a woman who was mowing her yard.

They say the woman was killed in the crash.

The driver of the truck was Stephen Vance, a Waynesboro resident. He stayed at the scene after the accident and was fully cooperative with police investigators.

No details about the crash have been released, and Vance has not been charged at this time.

"The driver of the vehicle stayed at the scene, no charges have been filed yet," says Sgt. Scott Van Lear, Virginia State Police. "We've been in consultation with the Commonwealth's Attorney, we're still actively working the case, so it's still a bit early for that at this time this evening."
