World Cup Has Positive Impact on Local Beer Sales

Harrisonburg It was a big weekend, as the United States Played again in the World Cup. Between the drink specials and the food deals, some people spent time watching the game at local bars.

Several local bars in Downtown Harrisonburg said the games more than doubled the number of customers typically walking through their doors on a Sunday.

Cy Khocharoun, the Owner of Beyond in Downtown Harrisonburg,said the number of people coming to their bar increased by more than 25 percent. In fact, they've had so much business, they opened their restaurant an additional day a week, on Sundays.

They've even increased the number of staff members working, to prepare for the crowds.

"You can see the excitement here. People are walking and driving around. You can see, most of the bars Downtown have been incredibly busy. It has brought the Downtown community together," said Khocharoun.

A lot of people on social media said, they enjoyed watching the game at their favorite bar, and wherever they could spend time with their friends.
