Mr. Richard Alan Dunn, 44, a resident of Harrisonburg, died Saturday, May 14, 2005, at the University of Virginia Hospital in Charlottesville from injuries sustained in an airplane accident. A son of Martin John and Marvel Vick Dunn, residents of Sunnyside Retirement Community, he was born on October 5, 1960, in Washington, DC. He attended school in Springfield, Va., earned a B.S. Degree in Business from Virginia Tech. Mr. Dunn was employed at Aerial Sign Co. in Hollywood, Florida, and at James Madison University Dining Services. He was a Pastor of Prison Ministry for the River of Life Ministries. He was a former member of the Rotary Club, National Brotherhood of Magicians, had once opened U.S. Congress with prayer and was a Family Forum volunteer. He was an active member of Harrisonburg First Church of the Nazarene. On June 16, 1984, he married Deborah Rhodes Dunn who survives. Also surviving in addition to his wife and parents is a daughter, Madeline Hope Dunn, at home; one brother, Donald Dunn of Eulonia, GA; one sister, Nancy June Cartwright of Atlanta, GA; and a number of nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at seven o’clock Thursday evening at the Harrisonburg First Church of the Nazarene with Pastor’s Cindy Carr, Kerry Willis, Chris Meek, Jim Harrison, and Roger Dove officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 5:00 until 6:45 Thursday evening prior to the service. Burial will be private. Memorial contributions may be made to Harrisonburg First Church of the Nazarene, Children and Student Ministries, 1871 Boyers Road, Harrisonburg, VA 22801.
