One-thousand dollars was awarded Monday to Lacey Spring Elementary school.

The grant came from "Project 3," a program involving TV-3, local businesses and area schools.

Rockingham Co-Op made the donation and chose the winner.

School librarian Carlene Lantz submitted the proposal.

She says, "We're going to use the money to buy non-fiction books for the library. Non-fiction books deal with pure science like weather and animals, or applied science like technology, could do with civics and community events, also pets, history is involved in that, so, books that are at high interest for kids that they'll enjoy reading with good visuals."
