Elementary school students in McLean will soon be allowed to resume playing tag during recess.

Kent Gardens Elementary School Principal Robyn Hooker halted the games earlier this month, saying tag had become too aggressive. Administrators and teachers have been meeting since then to develop a plan to allow the games to resume, but with safety in mind.

Students have been getting lessons about playground safety during physical education classes and teachers have led classroom discussions about safe recess behavior.

In an e-mail to parents, Hooker said she expected full recess activities to resume by Friday, coinciding with national Playground Safety Week.
