First-year students also are getting wallet-sized cards with the phone number of a cab company that will give students a ride home if they have a valid U.Va. ID card.
Susan Bruce, director of U.Va.'s Center for Alcohol and Substance Education, says students across the country die every year from alcohol poisoning. She says university officials don't want that to happen at U.Va.
