He's a student and a Life scout member of Troop 40 in Harrisonburg, but this 15-year-old high school student has completed a project that will make you view school spirit in a bigger way.
Patrick Turner will gain the honor of being an Eagle Scout with his rock garden displayed on a hill next to the Harrisonburg High School football field. The garden features the Blue Streak's logo at 80 by 60 feet.
More than 240-tons of rock were donated by Frazier Quarry and several students helped Turner paint the logo this week. He says the idea invokes a lot of school spirit.
Turner says, "This is actually a really young building. It's only about four years old. We really didn't have a whole lot that caught the eye when you drove by. So we just got the idea that we would add a little bit of school pride, a little bit of student spirit into it."
The rock garden took about a month to build and it will need to be repainted about every two years.
