Students in Waynesboro are back to hitting the books Wednesday. Waynesboro High School got back into gear as anxious students and teachers chatted outside before heading into class.

They are starting the year with new staff including a new principal and two new assistant principals.

Teachers involved in the Earth Science program are especially excited about the new school year, as they anticipate using new weather center software.

Earth Science teacher Erin Widener says, "We just got a new weather station we are excited about. Going to use it in our classroom. Hopefully we will integrate some more math and graphing, which I know the kids will love. With more technology, new principals. We are really excited about all the changes."

I hope Waynesboro City Schools are in better shape than Augusta County. My son started kindergarten yesterday and the building seems so old fashioned with it's open outdoor walkways which I feel are unsafe,a bit run down (have these rooms been renovated in 40 years?),over crowded with the trailer class rooms and the parkinging lot at drop off and pick up which is dangerously congessed. makes me thankful of the schools I went to in Harrisonburg City and reluctant that my child has to go to such a school. Where does our tax money go?
