Students in the Rockingham County Schools district will be using some world-class language learning software this year.
The district has a partnership with Rosetta Stone that will give students and faculty access to programs for French and Spanish lessons. There are also programs in English available for English language learning students.
The school district says this is a good supplement for programs that are already in use.
"It will compliment learning vocabulary, helping with fluency, speaking with fluency, and listening comprehension, as well as giving students the opportunity to practice the skills and vocabulary that they are learning in class," says Johna McFarland, the foreign language supervisor for Rockingham County Schools.
The school district hopes to offer even more languages besides Spanish, French, and English in the future. Middle and high school students in the district will begin using the software next month.
