Harrisonburg schools are planning some steps to prevent drug use by students.

Earlier this year, police alleged that prescription pain pills were used by members of the Harrisonburg High School football team.

In June, the Harrisonburg School Board concluded that some team members were involved in the unauthorized use of pain pills.

In order to try and prevent a recurrence of this problem, the board is looking into the possibility of random drug testing and expanding another method.

Superintendent Dr. Don Ford says, "And so during the course of this year, we'll increase the number of times that we have drug dogs in our school actually seeking out illegal substances."
