It began in 2005 and continues to grow, blowing peace around the world.
"Pinwheels for Peace" is a non-partisan, international art project reserved for "International Day of Peace."
And even though September 21st fell on a Sunday this year, that didn't stop Harrisonburg High School from joining three other Valley schools and other groups around the globe in expressing their feelings about world issues.
Students started constructing their pinwheels last week and Monday, planted them on a hill outside the school, spelling out the word "peace."
There aren't any final numbers yet, but organizers estimate that 2,000,000 pinwheels were blowing "whirled peace" this year.
