A new law aimed at teens provides for a new punishment if they're not showing up for class.
The law relates to kids in public schools who have unexcused absences. If a student misses school for ten days in a row, the state could suspend their driver's license.
Under the law, a judge can suspend the license for any amount of time until the student turns 18.
"We welcome any additional measures to keep kids in school. Driving licenses are very important to kids. And so, if you take away one of those very important privileges, it may lead kids to think twice before they skip school," says Harrisonburg School Board Chair Tom Mendez.
A student caught driving after having their license suspended could face a fine or jail time.

It's been a LONG time since I was in high school, but I have to say this law seems ridiculous. Of course, it applies to those who are old enough to work but NOT old enough to vote.
