Giles County's public schools are closed because of water problems after equipment failed at the area's treatment plant.
The school district's employee information line asked employees to report to work on their regular schedules despite the closings Tuesday.
County authorities on Monday asked residents to boil their water. Crews had to pump untreated water into the water system to provide service and firefighting capabilities after a power surge knocked out equipment Sunday.
Affected are Giles County and the towns of Glen Lyn, Pearisburg, Pembroke, Narrows and Rich Creek.
