Ninety-eight percent of schools across the state are fully accredited and meeting standards for English, math, science and history.
Augusta County, Staunton and Waynesboro public schools all passed the Standards of Learning Requirements. The schools met these standards shortly after many of the same schools did not meet Adequate Yearly Progress.
Gordon Mowen, the Augusta County Director of Testing, says, "Well we are certainly pleased that all of our schools are accredited. The truth is we fully expect all of our schools to be fully accredited but, it is gratifying that we did meet that goal."
State officials say 17 of Virginia's schools were approved with warning, which is down from 54 last year.
