There's controversy over the H1N1 vaccine because some say they'll get the vaccine while others say they're not quite sure about it.

Some college students say they're concerned about the spread of illnesses. On college campuses throughout the Valley, faculty, staff and students are coming in close contact with each other, which enables the spread of germs.

At Shenandoah University in Winchester, students report some concern over the H1N1 virus. Others say fears of getting sick are being laid to rest.

Shenandoah University has nearly 1,000 students living on campus and 3,000 more who commute.

On campus, only a handful of students have self-reported cases of the virus, but there's still a lingering concern over the spread of germs.

Freshman Katie Yancey says, "I'm trying to stay away, to touch anything that most other people touch it. I prefer to clean my hands."

Junior Raid Alghmdi says, "I've been pretty concerned about it. There's a small scare going around campus in Winchester. I think it's kind of died down lately. It's mainly flu-like symptoms."

The university is working with an H1N1 coordinator at the Lord Fairfax Health District to prepare for a potential outbreak. An emergency plan is in place in the event of an isolated or campus wide outbreak.
