Liberty University Gets Own Polling Place

Liberty University will get its own polling place under Lynchburg's redistricting plan.

Lynchburg City Attorney Walter Erwin tells The News and Advance
(http://bit.ly/stDUbK ) that the U.S. Department of Justice has
approved the plan that City Council adopted in late October.

City officials hope the new polling place at Liberty will
alleviate congestion at an elementary school where students
previously voted. Students also will no longer have to take a bus
to the school to vote.

The plan also shifts 1,500 voters from Ward III into Ward II to
correct a population imbalance.

Erwin says the changes will be effective for the March presidential primaries and the City Council elections in May.
