Governor Tim Kane has formally designated March as “Certified Athletic Trainers’ Month,” recognizing Certified Athletic Trainers as valued health care professionals who specialize in preventing, recognizing, managing and rehabilitating injuries.
“We are thrilled that Governor Kaine officially designed March as Certified Athletic Trainers’ Month throughout the Commonwealth” says Meg Thompson, President of the Virginia Athletic Trainers’ Association. “It’s critical that our community embrace the impact that Certified Athletic Trainers have those we serve and to recognize that we, as a profession, are experts in the evaluation, treatment and rehabilitation of injuries and illnesses.”
Certified Athletic Trainers are unique health care professionals who specialize in the prevention, assessment, treatment and rehabilitation of injuries and illnesses. National Athletic Training Month, which is sponsored by the National Athletic Trainers’ Association, salutes the medical and community work of Certified Athletic trainers nationwide. “Who's taking care of your kids?” is the theme of this year’s National Athletic Training Month.
The Virginia Athletic Trainers' Association represents and supports more than 1,000 members of the athletic training profession that work in a variety of settings throughout Virginia, including secondary schools, college and universities, outpatient rehabilitation facilities, physician offices and the military.
Athletic Trainers are medical professionals, nationally certified and licensed by the Virginia Board of Medicine.
