Fort Defiance is getting ready for the 2014 season, motivated by how 2013 ended. It was a 5-5 campaign that ended with a loss to R.E. Lee that had them on the outside looking in to the playoffs.
Head coach Dan Rolfe is entering his sixth season at Fort, looking to lead the Indians to their first playoff appearance since 2012.
Rolfe admits that FD is still relatively young despite having a group of seniors that's played together since eighth grade.
The goal during camp is to get everyone polished and on the same level before Fort Defiance plays Buffalo Gap in its season opener.
"We got to find a way to get to that next step that next level so that's been kinda the battle cry all offseason," said Rolfe.
"We gotta finish through the end of the game," said senior Center William Henderson. "We can't stop early. We gotta play through everything. No matter what's going on, we gotta play through it all....At the end of the day, we want to be the best team around here...we need to be on the map, people need to recognize us and respect us as players and as a team because I do think we can be a good team this year."
