Things will never be the same for this year's Turner Ashby football team. Not since the death of teammate Matt Privott one week ago.

Privott, a rising junior who was a starter along the offensive line a season ago, was found dead in his Bridgewater home last Wednesday.

His teammates were informed of Privott's death that same day. Coaches canceled the day's scheduled practice, with the team returning on Thursday.

TA head coach Charlie Newman says the past week has been hard on the entire community. But he adds the team has already started taking small steps forward, and Newman knows Priovott's memory will be with the Knights all season long.

"We'll never forget Matt," says Newman. "I know the kids all want to attribute the season to him. They want to win this year for Matt. He was a great kid, and we'll really miss him."
