Eugene Holloman may be out for Saturday's game with Massachusetts, but Jamal Sullivan says he's in.

The sophomore running back returned to practice at JMU on Tuesday. He missed the first two games of the season because of a torn ligament in his left thumb.

"It's been killing me," says Sullivan. "I've been really wanting to practice, really wanting to play, to help the team out a little. But it's just one of those things time can heal, you know?"

Head coach Mickey Matthews says he's unsure where Sullivan will fit on the depth chart. If Holloman, who Matthews declared "doubtful" on Monday with a quad bruise, can't play, Griff Yancey is expected to start at tailback.

Yancey missed Tuesday's practice because, according to Matthews, he was sick.

JMU quarterback Rodney Landers says Sullivan gives the JMU offense something it's been missing.

"Jamal's got great speed, too. He can get to the outside, he can make plays, too," says Landers. "But he's more of a bruising back. A dependable third down back who can pick up yards in traffic."

Senior cornerback Darrieus Ramsey also returned to the JMU football team on Tuesday.

Ramsey quit a week ago. But Matthews revealed Tuesday that the team's seniors voted to allow Ramsey to rejoin the team.
