Pat White threw two touchdown passes and moved into second place on the NCAA's career rushing list for quarterbacks, leading West Virginia to a 24-17 win over Rutgers on Saturday.
White was injured for the second straight week, leaving the game late in the third quarter after being gang tackled on a ten-yard run. He remained on the sidelines as a precaution and the undisclosed injury didn't appear to be serious.
West Virginia jumped ahead 17-3. Rutgers had the chance to tie the game after West Virginia backup quarterback Jarrett Brown was stopped on fourth-and-inches at the Mountaineers 45 with 1:54 remaining. But Mike Teel's pass on fourth down was broken up by Scooter Berry and West Virginia (3-2, 1-0 Big East) survived.
Rutgers (1-4, 0-1) fell to 0-16 all-time in Morgantown.
