Virginia Commonwealth University forward Franck Ndongo will miss the 2008-2009 season after suffering a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee.

VCU coach Anthony Grant said Thursday that the 6-7 Ndongo will be redshirted. The junior will retain two years of eligibility.

A school spokesman said the injury occurred during an individual workout.

Ndongo averaged 1.5 points and 1.6 rebounds last season.
