West Virginia men's basketball coach Bob Huggins is gearing up for the start of his second season.

The Mountaineers will take to the floor at the WVU Coliseum on Friday night. The 9:30 p.m. practice will feature scrimmages, a slam-dunk contest and a two-ball competition between the men's and women's teams.

The event will include pizza and T-shirt giveaways to fans.

The official start of practice is on October 17, but the NCAA allows two hours of team workouts per week beginning in mid-September. WVU is holding its annual "Midnight Madness" session a week early to coincide with homecoming weekend.

In Huntington, Marshall's basketball team begins practice on Saturday.
