Virginia Commonwealth's NCAA Women's Tournament bid is good news for James Madison.

VCU's at-large bid, announced Monday evening, means the Dukes get the CAA's automatic bid in the Women's NIT. JMU head coach Kenny Brooks said late Monday night that his team will host American University on Friday night in the tournament's opening round.

It will mark the fourth WNIT appearance in the program's history, and the second in as many seasons.

JMU beat Radford and Indiana last year before losing to Kentucky in the third round of the tournament. In 2006, the Dukes got a first round bye, then lost at Charlotte. In 2001, they reached the semifinals before losing at Ohio State.

VCU received a ten-seed in the Women's NCAA Tournament. They face seven-seed Rutgers in the first round of the Oklahoma City Regional. It will mark the first NCAA Tournament appearance in VCU history.

CAA champion Drexel is the 12-seed in the Raleigh Regional. They face five-seed Kansas State in the first round.
