Bridgewater Little Leaguers Win State Titles

It was another slaughter for the Bridgewater nine- and ten-year-old baseball team Thursday, but this time it was for the Virginia state title. Bridgewater beat Louisa, 17-6.

Brenan Hanifee hit a walk-off homerun to seal the deal in the bottom of the fourth. Hanifee finished the game with two homeruns and eight runs batted in.

Bridgewater cruised through the district and state tournaments, with their last three games being decided by the slaughter rule.

They're currently undefeated, having won 15 straight games. Up next for the little guys is the regional tournament, which takes place in Huntington, West Virginia.

The nine- and ten-year-old softball team also won a state title Thursday by beating Coles 10-1.

Fans celebrated Thursday night with a parade through Bridgewater. Some showed up in body paint.

Travis Farley, the father of one of the softball players, agreed to let the players shave his head after they won.
