Sherman Dillard has resigned as men's basketball coach at James Madison University.
Dukes athletics director Jeff Bourne made the announcement this
evening. Bourne said in a release that the basketball team's
performance, QUOTE "is NOT where it needs to be."
Dillard led the Dukes to a 7-21 overall record this season. They
were 3-15 in the Colonial Athletic Association, before losing
Friday in the conference tournament.
Dillard had a year left on his contract, but his resignation is
Dillard, who is a J-M-U graduate the the school's second highest
scorer, released a statement tonight saying that he did the best he
could, and was proud of his team's integrity and graduation rate.
He added that some people think winning is the most important
