Al Groh says Virginia fans unhappy with the team's performance should not take their frustration out on the players by jeering them as they leave the field after a loss.
Unhappy fans at Virginia's 28-17 loss to Duke Saturday showed their displeasure as players headed for the locker room. They also jeered at Groh, who has become increasingly unpopular as his team continues to struggle.
Virginia is 3-5 overall and 2-2 in the Atlantic Coast Conference.
Groh says fans need to know that the players are working hard to turn the team's fortunes around and says fans should also remember that the team is their team.
Groh made his comments on a conference call Sunday night.
