Fred Davis is getting ready for his first game as a No. 1 tight end.
The Washington Redskins second-round draft pick in 2008 canceled his bye week travel plans after Chris Cooley broke an ankle against Philadelphia.
Davis instead worked daily last week with his position coach on his blocking skills, which were exposed by the Eagles after Cooley left the game.
Davis caught a career-high eight passes with Cooley gone, but he knows this week's opponent, the Atlanta Falcons, will test how well he can hold off a pass rush.
Cooley, meanwhile, will see a doctor Monday to get a better gauge on how long he'll be out. He's hopes to be back within a month, but he didn't rule out missing the rest of the season.
