Wily (WIH'-lee) Mo Pena and Josh Beckett sent
the Boston Red Sox to a 5-to-2 victory and a two-game sweep at
Baltimore.
The Orioles led 2-to-1 in the eighth inning until Pena hit a
grand slam, just his second homer of the season. Pena entered the
game batting .120 and was 1-for-20 versus right-handers before
going deep off Birds closer Chris Ray.
Pena's blast allowed Josh Beckett to become the majors' first
five-game-winner of the season. Beckett is 5-and-0 after allowing
two runs and eight hits in eight innings.
Jonathan Papelbon picked up his seventh save and Ray dropped to
2-and-2.
Melvin Mora doubled twice and had an R-B-I for the Orioles, who
have dropped four straight since winning four in a row.
