L-S-U safety LaRon Landry has been chosen by the
Washington Redskins with the sixth overall pick in today's N-F-L
Landry recorded 74 tackles, four pass breakups, three
interceptions and one forced fumble for the Tigers last year. As a
junior, he had five tackles for loss, three sacks and a forced
fumble while finishing with 92 tackles.
The six-foot, 213-pound Landry opened eyes as a true freshman,
when he led the team with 80 tackles while playing right
cornerback, strong and free safety in a national championship
season for the Tigers. He also led L-S-U in tackles as a sophomore
before seeing fewer balls thrown his way.
Landry has soaked up knowledge as a four-year starter,
developing superb instincts and providing significant help on
