Carlos Beltran's sixth-inning home run was the
difference as the New York Mets defeated the Washington Nationals
1-to-0.
Beltran's blast was one of just three hits collected by the
Mets.
John Maine pitched seven sharp innings to get the win and
improve to 4-and-0.
He struck out a career-high eight batters and allowed three hits
in lowering his E-R-A to one-point-35.
Billy Wagner pitched the ninth for his fourth save in four
chances.
Beltran's fifth homer of the season made a loser out of Nats
starter Jason Bergmann, who gets his second loss in as many
decisions.
