Stonewall Jackson's Kristin Brill just might be the ideal student athlete.
"I think it's very unique to find young people that are extremely gifted athletically, yet extremely gifted in the classroom, and have a genuine heart and care," says Kristin’s Spanish Teacher Peggy Dunstan.
"Some classes I like better than others, and some you really struggle with, but for the most part I like school, yeah," says Kristin Brill.
She apparently hasn't struggled with many. Kristin is ranked first in her class, with a 4.26 GPA. And while she's proud of that accomplishment, Kristin says it's not a huge motivator.
"I would still be satisfied with what I've been able to accomplish academically, and to be number one, it's really just sort of a nice bonus."
Kristin is also number one on the softball field where she's been Stonewall's top pitcher for the last four seasons.
"She has a bulldog mentality. She's not gonna give in. She's not gonna let you hit the pitch that you want," says Kristin’s Softball Coach Michael Hunt.
"You know, I really try to think about each pitch, and I try and think about the movement that I need to get, and the placement that it needs to have."
Kristin has been first team All District, and honorable mention All Region, in each of her first three seasons. She also holds the school records for wins and strikeouts.
"And I think she really relishes having the ball in her hands, and being in control of the game, the situation, and we're perfectly happy with her in that situation."
"She's a team player, yet she knows how to lead. I think that's Kristin."
