Hall of Fame offensive tackle Roosevelt Brown is dead at the age of 71. Brown, who starred for the New York Giants in the 1950's and 1960's, died yesterday of an apparent heart attack.
He was a 27th-round draft pick out of Morgan State in 1953 and
was the Giants' starting right tackle for 13 years. He was voted to
the All-N-F-L team for eight consecutive seasons and selected to
nine Pro Bowls.
Brown was named the league's lineman of the year in 1956 and in
2000 was named to the N-F-L's 75-year anniversary team. He was
elected to the Hall of Fame in 1975.
