Dawn Evans watched her teammates practice from the scorer's table Sunday.
The James Madison junior guard is still nursing her right ankle, which she injured early in last Thursday's game at Virginia Commonwealth.
"The way things are looking, it's getting way better," said Evans, the nation's second leading scorer. "It's progressed better than I thought it would, so there's definitely a chance. We're still taking it day-by-day."
Evans could miss Monday's game when JMU hosts defending league champion Drexel.
"It's not a rush to urgency," said head coach Kenny Brooks. "If we were in the championship game then I would bet she would probably play, but since it's not, we got a lot of basketball left. We're going to be very cautious on how we proceed with it."
Brooks added, "We're preparing like she's not going to play."
The Dukes played without Evans for most of the game Thursday in a 15-point win over the Rams.
