It's been almost 50 years since West Virginia cracked the top five in a national poll.
But this week the Mountaineers are among the top five in both the AP and ESPN/USA Today Coaches' polls. West Virginia is ranked fourth in the coaches' poll, and No. 5 by AP voters.
West Virginia's last top five appearance came on December 4, 1962, when the Mountaineers were ranked No. 3.
On Monday night the Mountaineers host another top five opponent. Despite losing to Georgetown this past weekend, Villanova is No. 4 in the AP poll and fifth in the coaches' poll.
Including Syracuse (2/3), three of the top five teams in both polls come from the Big East.
