Pierre Curtis has seen a lot in his four years in Harrisonburg.

"It's gone by quick," says Curtis, who will play his final home game at James Madison Saturday when the Dukes host Drexel.

"It feels like yesterday I got here. I was the young kid on campus," he says. "Now I'm like the old man running around here."

Curtis arrived at James Madison as Dean Keener's recruiting answer at point guard. He'll leave the school as its all-time leader in games played, starts, assists, and steals.

"Winning-wise, obviously I came here hoping to turn the program around. And I feel like the results this year haven't shown," he says. "But I feel like I have helped turn this program around to where next year I feel like they're going to be really, really good."

Curtis points out that the biggest changes in his life the past four years have come off the court.

His mother, Carolyn Curtis-Rice, died between his freshman and sophomore year. And last May, his girlfirend, Rashonda Roberson, gave birth to the couple's first daughter, Sydney.

"It's been eventful. With my mom passing, with my daughter being here," Curtis says. "I just feel like I'm JMU's son. I feel like they all took me in when my mom passed."

Curtis hopes he made a positive impression on JMU fans in his four seasons.

"On the court, just as a kid that pretty much gave his all," he says when asked how he'd like to be remembered. "I always played hard on defense. Always played hard, regardless of the results. I always played my hardest."
