Former James Madison closer Kevin Munson signed his contract with the Arizona Diamondbacks this week.
The hard-throwing righty was selected by Arizona in the fourth round (121st overall) of the Major League Baseball Draft last month. According to the Arizona Republic, Munson's deal includes a $243K bonus.
Munson earned numerous awards this past season with the Dukes, including being named the Colonial Athletic Association's Pitcher of the Year.
Munson went 8-1 with a 1.64 ERA and compiled a league-best ten saves, which is a JMU single-season record. He also owns the career saves record with 23.
Munson reported to the South Bend Silver Hawks of the Midwest League, which is the Class A affiliate of the Diamondbacks.
