QUICKSBURG, Va. (WHSV) -- For Stonewall Jackson's Andrew Good, making the perfect putt or a tough chip, there's not much like it.
"The feeling that you get when you do what you want to do, with the fact that golf is such a hard sport, and you're sort of conquering that, it's just a great feeling," said Andrew.
"He's one of the hardest working and most dedicated athletes that you could ever ask for. Never as a coach do I ever have to worry about what kind of day he was going to have," said Andrew's golf coach, Roger Wilkins, "He was just that consistent."
Andrew finished the season at the state tournament ranked inside the top 15 golfers in Virginia.
His finish helped the Generals place second as a team.
Academically, Andrew is better than par, and almost everyone else.
His 4.3 GPA is good for second in his class. That's something that stands out to his teacher, Aimee Miller.
"I think that's sort of rare to be that intelligent, that academically minded, and that good at sports," said Miller, "He's always working hard: after practice, after games to make sure that he is perfecting those little things so that he can be the best at whatever he's working on."
While Andrew strives to be the best, he says he's at his best when his life is balanced between school and sports.
"I think it's good to have balance, and sports provide the balance for me," said Andrew. "If I was just all about school I think I'd go crazy."
"Our community and this school ought to be very very proud of this young man for what he has done for this school. I'm gonna miss him tremendously," said Wilkins. "I guess he's the kind of kid if you want to have as your son, he would be one."
And an impact like that, is why Andrew Good is this week's Mountain Valley Burger King WHSV Student Athlete of the Week.
