BC Men's Soccer Closes Regular Season With Road Win

EMORY, Va. - The Bridgewater College men's soccer team closed out its regular season with a 2-0 victory Tuesday evening over Emory & Henry College.

The Eagles head to the ODAC tournament with an 8-7-3 overall record and a 5-4-2 conference mark. This is the second straight year the Eagles have posted a winning record during conference regular season action. Bridgewater will be seeded seventh for the ODAC tournament that begins with quarterfinal games on Saturday.

Bridgewater took the lead with a goal on the 20th minute. Patrick Thornton pushed a pass ahead to Ben Lewis and the Eagles sophomore got behind the Wasps defenders for a breakaway goal, giving the Eagles a 1-0 lead.

Bridgewater added an insurance goal in the second half. Thornton took a crossing pass to the back post from Ethan McBryde and scored to give the Eagles a 2-0 lead.

The Eagles held a 14-13 edge in shots, including a 7-4 margin in shots on goal.

Bridgewater keeper Kevin Morris recorded four saves to earn the shutout.
