BC Men's Soccer Falls At Roanoke

SALEM, Va. - Roanoke College stayed unbeaten in the ODAC with a 2-0 victory Wednesday evening over the Bridgewater College Eagles. The loss was the first conference setback for the Eagles.

The teams battled to a scoreless deadlock until late in the first half. Mark Strelow took a pass from Matt Dinkel and found the back of the net to put the Maroons on the board in the 42nd minute.

Roanoke added some insurance in the 65th minute when Dinkel scored on a penalty kick for a 2-0 Roanoke lead.

The Maroons held a 13-5 edge in shots, including an 8-3 margin in shots on goal. Kevin Gidari, Ben Lewis and Sawyer Janes put shots on goal for Bridgewater.

Eagles goalkeeper Kevin Morris finished the contest with six saves.

The Eagles are now 5-4-3 overall and 2-1-2 in the conference. The Maroons improve to 9-1-1 overall and 5-0-1 in the ODAC.

Bridgewater is back in action Saturday afternoon when the Eagles host Lynchburg College. Game time is set for 2 p.m.
