Barefoot Going Back to ODU as Larry's Successor

Elon women's basketball coach Karen Barefoot is leaving to take over at Old Dominion.

Elon announced Wednesday that Barefoot had resigned to take the Monarchs' position, and Old Dominion also announced the hiring in a
separate statement.

Barefoot replaces Wendy Larry, who resigned last month after 25 years as head coach.

Barefoot was an assistant for three seasons at Old Dominion before taking over at Elon and leading the Phoenix to a 37-58 record in three seasons. They made their first postseason appearance in Division I this season in the Women's Basketball Invitational.

Old Dominion president John Broderick says Barefoot "ensures the Lady Monarchs basketball program will retain the winning reputation for which it is known."
