The Eagles defeated Shenandoah twice on the final day of the ODAC Tournament to win their first title since 2010.
LYNCHBURG, VA (WHSV) -- The Bridgewater Eagles defeated top-seed Shenandoah twice on Sunday to capture their first ODAC title since 2010, and their 14th title overall.
BC won the first game of the afternoon, 5-2, to force a winner-take-all contest. In game 2, Bridgewater had a three-run lead erased by the Hornets with five runs in the fifth. But catcher Tyler Hoffman hit a two-run RBI double with two outs to score the game-tying and game-winning runs in the eighth inning.
"We've been here four years in a row now, and the first three years we came up on the short end," Hoffman said.
"To have to win two today against a quality team like that, I mean, this is unbelievable. "
With the win, the Eagles earn an automatic bid into the Division III NCAA tournament.
