Freshman Kelsey Taylor dropped a 17-point, 10-rebound double-double, while junior Jessica Mullen scored a team-high 18 points as the Bridgewater Eagles (13-6, 9-5 ODAC) women’s basketball team overwhelmed visiting Hollins en route to a 67-46 victory on Thursday evening in Nininger Hall.
Bridgewater opened the game on an 11-4 run over the first six minutes as visiting Hollins (8-11, 7-8 ODAC) struggled to find any shooting rhythm from the floor.
Hollins slowly worked the Eagles lead down to one possession before a trey from Carrie Cox capped off a 9-2 Hollins run, knotting the game up at 13-13 with 11:58 to play in the opening frame.

Mullen paced the Bridgewater offense with 11 points in the first half after shooting at a 46% clip from the floor over the first 20 minutes of play.
Out of the halftime break, Hollins scored the first bucket but the Eagles immediately responded when a Mullen jumper found the bottom of the net to push the lead back to double digits.
Following a quick Hollins response, a Shannan Thorne layup opened a 10-0 Eagles run which put Bridgewater up by a 46-28 margin with 15:16 to go.
Hollins ended the run with a Lauren Morris trey before the Eagles responded with a 13-1 run to put the game out of reach at a 59-32 margin with 8:17 remaining.
Bridgewater went to its bench over the final eight and change with the Eagles reserves holding the lead down the stretch en route to a 67-46 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) victory.
Mullen’s 18 paced the way, while Taylor chipped in 17 in the win. The freshman forward dropped 10 points in the second half and cleaned up five rebounds over the final 20 minutes to pick up the double-double.
On the glass, Taylor’s 10 boards paced the way as the Eagles out rebounded Hollins by a 49-to-36 gap.
Hollins was paced offensively by Jasmine Greene’s 15-point effort. Greene scored 10 points in the final half to pace Hollins while Lacey Forrest scored just one second-half point after exploding for nine in the first stanza.
