BAKER, WV – For the second straight season, East Hardy made a deep run in to the postseason, but for the second straight season, the Cougars saw their season end on the road before bringing home the school's first football state title.
This stretch has been the best football East Hardy has played, in school history. The Cougars have amassed 21 wins in the past two seasons combined, and have not lost in Baker in three years, including in the postseason. Now, according to head coach Chad Williams, the goal in 2013 is to figure out how to win big games on the road, and bring home a state championship.
East Hardy will stick to the Air Raid stlye offense that has proven difficult to slow, let alone stop over the past few years, a no-huddle spread attack that pushed across an average of more than 43 points per game in 2012. East Hardy though, will start a new quarterback for the second straight season. Shawn Skovron, who led the state in passing has graduated, opening up the quarterback position.
The Cougars will also stick to multiple defensive sets, after one of the more successful defensive stints in recent history in 2012, allowing around 14 points per game.
