Head coach Paul Comer called it "One of the poorer games we've played in our three years as a school."

But at the end of the game, East Rockingham left the court with a 63-32 win over Castlewood in the Group A Division 1 State Semifinals Thursday afternoon.

The Eagles, who missed 52 shots in the win, simply overpowered a Castlewood team that allowed 41 points off 39 turnovers.

Madison Comer led three Eagles scoring in double figures with 15 points and a crucial 3 point play at the end of the second quarter that put East Rockingham in front by 9 at the half.

Katie Dofflemeyer poured in 10 of her 14 points in the third quarter when the Eagles began to pull away for good, and Jessica Lam added 14.

East Rockingham shot 0-16 from three point range in the first half, finishing the game 2-23 behind the arc. As a team, the Eagles shot just 23-75 from the floor in the win.

The Eagles will have the opportunity to play for a second straight Division 1 State Championship Friday at 2:00 p.m. against the winner of the Altavista-Clintwood game to be played Thursday afternoon.

East Rockingham topped Altavista 56-37 in the Region B title game earlier this postseason.
