A fallen soldier, who had been a star athlete at Broadway High School, was honored Friday night before the school's football game.

Bucky Anderson was killed in Afghanistan in June at the age of 24.

Coaches say Anderson was a leader on his football team and won state wrestling titles at Broadway.

Members of the James Madison University ROTC program were at the game and they say Anderson is a hero.

"Definitely someone that me and my fellow classmates about to be commissioned in the service, we would be glad to have men like him to serve beside. The fact that he made the ultimate sacrifice for our country, that's why we get up everyday, put on this uniform, to do what he did, to live out his legacy," says Justin Joyce, a senior JMU ROTC member.

"It's pretty humbling and it definitely hits close to home when you see something like that," adds Mark McLaughlin, who is also a senior in the program.

Football coach Brad Lutz has been honoring soldiers before each game since he started coaching last year.
