Former JMU Player Looking For Fresh Start With Redskins

RICHMOND (WHSV) -- It's been five years since Mike Caussin suited up for James Madision. But now the West Springfield, Va.-native is one of two former Dukes currently on the Redskins roster. The other being NFL veteran Akeem Jordan. Both are new to Washington this season.

During his days at JMU, Caussin played in 44 games, recording 66 receptions, 14 of them touchdowns, for over 1000 yards. Caussin was signed as a free agent in the spring of his senior year by the Jaguars, eventually ending up on the practice squad before Buffalo picked him up at the end of 2010.

Caussin played in six games for the Bills the following season but injuries hampered his career since then, spending the last two seasons on the reserve list. This year is a new start for Caussin, who is healthy and competing for a spot on the final roster. But he still remembers his JMU roots.

"I just miss that school. I was able to go back last fall. See the new stadium,” Caussin said. “I was able to go in the spring for an alumni golf tournament. Meet coach Withers. I'm really excited for what he's doing with the program and everything."
