LEXINGTON, Va. - Washington and Lee handed Bridgewater its first ODAC loss of the season Saturday as the Generals blanked the Eagles, 3-0.
The Generals got on the board early when Parker Wolfinger scored in the 15th minute for a 1-0 W&L lead.
W&L made it 2-0 in the 36th minute when Zach Colby gathered in a long pass from Max Quelhorst to get behind the Eagles defense. Colby dribbled the ball into the offensive zone and booted a shot into the goal from 20 yards out.
The Generals added an insurance goal early in the second half when Alex Zelinski took a long pass from Dave Phillips and won the 1-on-1 battle with BC goalkeeper TJ Martin to give W&L a 3-0 lead.
The Generals entered the contest with the stingiest defense in the conference and the Eagles were unable to penetrate the W&L back line on Saturday. Bridgewater managed just five shots on the day with just one on goal.
Bridgewater is 7-3 overall and 3-1 in the ODAC while the Generals are 6-3, 3-1 in the ODAC.
The Eagles return to action Tuesday evening when the make the trip to Eastern Mennonite. Game time is 7:00 p.m.
