Haren's Strong Start lifts Nationals Over Brewers

MILWAUKEE (AP) -- Dan Haren pitched seven strong innings and Adam LaRoche and Wilson Ramos hit home runs to lead the Washington Nationals to a 3-0 win over the Milwaukee Brewers on Saturday.

Heron gave up just four hits, with six strikeouts and two walks.

It was the second straight strong outing for Haren (6-11) as he allowed one run and three hits in seven innings of a 4-1 win over the New York Mets on July 27. Prior to that, Heron had not won a game in more than two months as the Nationals had lost his previous 11 starts. Haren went 0-8 with a 6.18 ERA in that stretch.

Tyler Clippard pitched a scoreless eighth inning. Rafael Soriano pitched the ninth inning to earn his 28th save in 32 chances.

Donovan Hand (0-3), making his sixth start of the season, gave up three runs on five hits for the Brewers.
