Frank Beamer and his coaching staff at Virginia Tech are still looking for answers.

The Hokies are out of the Top 25 this week for the first time in 29 polls after a blowout loss at Pittsburgh. Areas of concern are piling up faster than the coaches are finding solutions.

Beamer says the Hokies (2-1) need to develop more consistency on both sides of the ball starting this week when a senior-laden Bowling Green (1-2) of the Mid-American Conference visits Lane Stadium.

Junior defensive tackle Derrick Hopkins says he's never seen the Virginia Tech defense look worse than it did in its 35-17 loss to the Panthers, and the solution is simple. He says they need to "play harder" and "play more like Hokies."
